The Chrismon symbol is a combination of the XP (chi ro) letters - the first two letters of Christ in the Greek alphabet - and the letters A and Ω (Alpha and Omega) the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet, as Jesus is described as the alpha and the omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.
