Its name derives from the word pomegranate as it was believed that garnet crystals look like pomegranate seeds. Garnet may come in many colors, such as pink, green, orange, yellow, brown, black, but the most known variety of it is the red garnet. Red garnet has been mined for many years in Bohemia.
