Cross pattee or cross formee is a cross pattern where all four arms are narrow at the center of the cross and spread towards the end. The basic pattern has been widely used in numerous variations. A variation with concave arms has been used to form the Nazi Iron Cross, in another one the arms almost fill the square leaving just a bit of space between them, while another variation, where the arms leave much more free space forms the Malta cross variant.
Cross pattee, a heraldic, chivalry cross, is often associated with the Crusades and the Knights Templar.
