Handcrafted sterling silver pendant with bronze bezel, inspired by the ancient Syracuse Demareteion tetradrachm minted around 470 BC.
OBV: Nymph Arethusa is depicted in a mature age, laureate, wearing earring and surrounded by four dolphins. Inscription in Greek fonts reads: SY RAK OSI ON (belonging to Syracuse).
REV: Chariot with four horses (quadriga) with the charioteer holding the reins, bent forwards. Above all, the winged goddess Nike crowning the horses. Below, in exergue, lion running right.
One of the most interesting and famous coins minted in the 5th BC century BC in Syracuse in Sicily, alongside the similar decadrachm. Both coins are also known as Demareteion.
