Dendritic agate is also known as Tree Agate due to its inclusions, known as dendrites, that remind the shape of a tree ("dendron" in Greek) or leaves. It is an agate variety, either translucent or opaque, mainly in white, green or brown shades.
As all agate varieties, dendritic agate has been used from ancient times. In ancient Greece it was used to increase crop, while it has been also used for making prosperity talismans. It is also known from the Russian jewelry maker Faberge, that created the famous, amazing pieces using dendritic agate stones and diamonds combined with other precious stones.
